What we did.
For this Middletown project, Landstar worked on an existing flat roof that was in poor condition. Damaged sections of the plywood decking were removed and replaced with new plywood where needed. The crew then installed a complete two-layer flat roofing system using a base sheet and cap sheet. New metal capping / drip edge was fabricated and installed around the perimeter of the flat roof to support proper waterproofing and drainage. Landstar also replaced the ridge caps on the adjoining shingle roof to complete the repair and improve the protection and appearance of the connected roofing system.
Why it matters.
Flat roofs depend heavily on proper decking, edge details, and waterproofing layers. When damaged plywood is left in place, the new roof system has a weaker foundation and may not perform properly over time. On this project, Landstar removed the damaged decking sections before installing the new flat roofing system. The perimeter metal capping / drip edge was also an important part of the job, helping direct water properly and protect vulnerable roof edges. Because this flat roof connected to a shingle roof, the adjoining ridge caps were also replaced to improve the overall protection of the roofing system.
